Career Exploration Creates Access
Career exploration is not a single event. It is an ongoing process that helps young people build confidence, discover their strengths, and imagine new possibilities for their future.
That spirit was on full display during Reconcile's second Career Day of 2026, where Interns connected with industry professionals, Employment Partners, and Alumni representing career pathways across healthcare, hospitality, culinary arts, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, information technology, logistics, education, sales, and apprenticeships.
Using a Career Day Passport, Interns rotated through conversations with professionals from across the community, asking questions about career journeys, daily responsibilities, workplace expectations, and the steps required to enter different fields. The experience encouraged young people to explore possibilities, build networking skills, and see themselves in professional spaces they may not have previously considered.
Career Day is one part of Reconcile's broader workforce training model. Throughout their training journey, Interns work with career coaches, explore industries aligned with their interests and skills, participate in workplace learning experiences, and prepare for Externships with Employment Partners. Together, these experiences help young people connect exploration to action as they identify a pathway that works for them.
The event also highlighted the important role Alumni play in the Reconcile community. Alumni return not only as role models, but as proof of what is possible. This Career Day included Keenan Jordan, a Reconcile graduate now working at Compère Lapin, who shared his own journey from Intern to industry professional. His story helped demonstrate that career growth happens one step at a time through learning, experience, and persistence.
Career exploration creates access by helping young people identify opportunities, understand how to pursue them, and build the confidence to take the next step. By connecting Interns with employers, educators, apprenticeships, and Alumni, Career Day helps turn possibilities into pathways.
