Mental Health Awareness: Wellness IS Workforce Training

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of emotional well-being, connection, and care in our daily lives. At Reconcile, wellness is not separate from workforce training. It is an essential part of helping young people build sustainable pathways into work and adulthood.

Workforce readiness is about more than technical skills. Young people are navigating stress, responsibilities, relationships, and major life transitions all at the same time. Creating space to recharge, reflect, and access support helps make long-term growth possible.

Throughout the month, Reconcile is highlighting the many ways wellness is embedded into daily program delivery. Through our partnership with Yeah Yoga, Interns and staff explore movement, mindfulness, and wellness practices that help reduce stress and build healthy habits. This month also marks the launch of Wellness Wednesdays for our team, introducing activities designed to support both physical and mental well-being while creating space to connect and recharge together.

Mental health support is also integrated directly into the workforce training experience through our partnership with Children's Bureau of New Orleans. Each week, a clinician and community mental health navigator are on-site at Reconcile, helping young people access trauma counseling, emotional support, and mental health resources in a trusted environment. This partnership helps ensure Interns are supported not only as emerging professionals but as individuals navigating complex life experiences.

At Reconcile, wellness is part of preparing young people for both work and life. When young people feel supported, connected, and cared for, they are better able to build confidence, stay engaged, and move forward with purpose.

Together with our community partners, we are helping create a future where wellness is prioritized and young people have the support they need to thrive.
