Jazz Fest Strawberry Lemonade a Big Success!

May 12, 2011

If you’re still feeling soulful from the Jazz Fest spirit that swept over New Orleans these past two weeks, you’re not the only one. Café Reconcile returned to the festival’s beloved Strawberry Lemonade Stand in style. For the second year, Café Reconcile was grateful to be offered an opportunity to staff the booth with volunteers and, in turn, receive a portion of the proceeds. Reconcile volunteers worked hard to quench the thirst of Jazz Festers, and it’s not too early to declare this year’s effort a resounding success.

For the seven days of Jazz Fest, Café Reconcile students, graduates, staff, board members, partners, and supporters sold lemonade seemingly without a break.  Volunteers worked to the tunes wafting from the Congo Square Stage as they prepared drinks. Current students and Reconcile graduates worked closely with staff members and other supporters, a fun experience for everyone involved. Thank you to nearly 300 volunteers from the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Shell, Camp Restore, Federal Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana, Mudbug Media, Paychex, St. Mary’s High School, Jesuits of New Orleans, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, St. Bernard Project, Catholic Charities, Dominican Sisters, Café Reconcile students, and the many other individual volunteers who joined us to make this event a great success. We couldn’t have done it without you! Finally, we’d like to give special thanks to our friends at Jazz Fest for providing us with this exciting opportunity!

Festival-goers lined up for Strawberry Lemonade almost non-stop…

Hard at work

…and volunteers kept busy, but still had time to smile…

A big thanks goes to Jazz Fest for giving us this wonderful opportunity…

Striking a pose

…not to mention our wonderful volunteers, without whom we couldn’t possibly pull it all off!
