Coyote Blues and Cafe Reconcile team up to Build Hope and Change Lives

The restaurant that prides itself in being “the fresh Mexican grill with Louisiana Soul” recently partnered up with the restaurant that is “building hope, changing lives.”

On October 25, Chef JP from Coyote Blues in Metairie visited Café Reconcile to share his Crawfish Tamale recipe with the students. On November 5, Coyote Blues sponsored a “Plates for Purpose” event to benefit Café Reconcile.

During the October chef demonstration, not only did Chef JP show the students how to lay out the corn husks and roll the tamales, he invited them to participate and make their own tamales. Then everyone had the opportunity to taste the steaming, fresh crawfish tamales.

Chef JP explained that the crawfish can be substituted for any filling such as pork, chicken, or beans. He even recommended experimenting with dessert tamales using a sweet fruit filling.

After the demo, the crawfish tamales, paired with beans and seasoned rice, were sold during lunch in the café as the chef special.

The November “Plates for Purpose” event was focused on “giving the next generation of chefs a shot at success.” Coyote Blues donated 10% of their earnings from their lunch and dinner service that day to Café Reconcile.

It is great to be able to partner with other restaurants in the area and Café Reconcile is always grateful for such community support.
